More fun sled gifts

Here are the fun gifts the girls got to open today--thank you Grandma Hubrich!

Some special thoughts

Saturday evening, Ken and the girls were playing happily outside in the first really good snowfall of the season. I took the quiet time to prepare for today's Primary sharing time. I chose to share the stories of Jesus. I pulled out 25 pictures of representations of Christ's life. I spent an hour poring over the scriptures from the Old Testament, the New Testament, the Book of Mormon, and the Pearl of Great Price. I was overwhelmed by the spirit testifying to my heart that these are not just nice stories. They are real. They were written by prophets whose sole purpose in life was to testify of the Lord Jesus Christ. It was a holy hour and one I will not forget. It is especially tender to have had that marvelous experience during the Christmas celebration.

Winter Piano Recital

Friday evening was Kylie & Ashley's winter piano recital. This is Ashley's first recital. She did really well and played two pieces "Stagecoach coming" and "Angels We Have Heard on High". Kylie also played two pieces, "Entree" and "Deck the Halls". She is really coming along and it is fun to hear her master more difficult pieces.

Longtime friends are the best friends!

Here is Ken and one of his childhood best friends, Randy Smith. Randy stayed with us overnight as he was in town for business.
As you can see, we did not have any fun...

It is so fun to get together and catch up with those who have known us for a long time--and yet they still like us! We hope you'll come again, Randy!

Lizzie's works of art--portraits of her lovely parents!

This is Lizzie's portrait of her Dad--drawn yesterday at preschool. The dots on his face are his "whiskers" and the lines on his ears are "ear hairs". She was the hit of the class--especially with the teacher!
This is Lizzie's lovely mother. I look just like this every morning!

Sled Gifts for December 7th

The first thing the girls wanted to do this morning was open sled gifts! Kylie is delighted with her darling notebook & pencil and Ashley and Lizzie both happened to open their darling Christmas socks & princess pens. Thank you!

Saint Nicholas came last night!

Our family continues the German tradition (one night early :-))by putting our shoes by the door. If you are good throughout the year, St. Nicholas brings a treat. If you are not so good, Knecht Ruprecht brings sticks & coal. Guess we were all good enough for a treat this time around. :-)

sled gifts from Little Grandma

The girls love the tradition of sled gifts--many thanks to Little Grandma for carrying on Grandma Smith's loving tradition. Here's the gifts they opened on the 30th. They love them!

Happy Thanksgiving 2008

We had a fabulous Thanksgiving here at home! We loved having Ken's parents up and we had two dear families join us as well. All in all, there were 16 here for dinner. We went to see the new Disney movie "Bolt" and enjoyed dessert, visiting, and video games afterwards. We are so grateful for the privilege of life, especially here in the United States of America. We can not phrase our gratitude in words to adequately express our feelings for the goodness of the Lord.
